D. Harald Alke

D. Harald Alke (born in October 1946 in Oldenburg) is the founder of the Kyborg Institute, author of the Kyborg Health Encyclopedia and developer of Energytraining and of the Horus Energy Pyramids. His path joins a scientific training with a lifelong engagement with spirituality, consciousness and self-responsibility — an attitude that shapes the Kyborg Institute to this day.

Origins

Alke grew up in a home shaped by post-war reconstruction. His father returned wounded from the war, recovered and worked for a time in explosive-ordnance disposal and as a liaison officer; in civilian life he worked as a versatile car mechanic. His mother was a trained infant nurse and kindergarten teacher. From this environment, Alke early on brought both a down-to-earth practical bent and a feeling for caring, attentive work.

Scientific roots

After his intermediate school-leaving certificate, Alke gained the Abitur (university-entrance qualification) at the Speyer-Kolleg and then, in 1966, passed the state examination as a biotechnician (Naturwissenschaftliches Technikum Dr F. Künkele, Landau). He trained further as a medical-technical assistant at the metabolic clinic in Bad Mergentheim and worked for around seven years in basic research — among other places at the Institute for Radiation Biology of the Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Centre and in the microbiology departments of the universities of Kaiserslautern and Hamburg, for a time also in virus research. In Hamburg he also studied Protestant theology for a few semesters — an educational path that joined scientific rigour with a curiosity for the humanities.

Turning to spirituality

On 26 January 1976, Alke began with Kundalini Yoga — the starting point of an exercise practice carried out daily for over fourteen years. In this time, by his own account, he studied around a thousand works of European intellectual history and met formative teachers, including the Kundalini Yoga master Yogi Bhajan (who gave him the name “Brahm Atma Singh”), the Zen master Roshi Tetsuo Nagaya, the philosopher Lanza del Vasto and the Muscogee Creek healer Phillip Deere. Alke himself describes 14 February 1982 as a turning point — a first, formative experience of inner “enlightenment”.

He began his first Kundalini Yoga course in a corner flat at Bismarckstraße 16 in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel. Alke always liked to tell a small anecdote from there: in the winter of 1976 he threw a chestnut out of the window into the front garden – “let’s see whether anything comes of it”. Something did: the caretaker cut the young tree back several times, whereupon the chestnut finally formed a group of six large trunks and one thin one – seven. It has since become a tree around 15 metres high in the middle of Hamburg: “as well developed as Harald and his Energytraining”.

France, the institute and the energy pyramids

In 1978 Alke acquired a farm in the southern French Ariège and, over several years, built up a spiritual training and therapy centre there. In 1985 he returned to Germany and founded the Kyborg Institut & Verlag (“Kyborg” = Kundalini Yoga Based Organisation); in 1998 the Alke GmbH for Spiritual Art & Magic followed. From 1989, in Flörsheim-Dalsheim, by his own account, inner inspirations arose that he understood as building instructions for the Horus Energy Pyramids — objects he understands as aids for meditation and self-perception.

Work and concern

Over around 30 years, Alke accompanied people in life counselling. He expressly understands himself not as a health advisor – even though his life counselling could at the same time give many people help with health matters. Out of the many overlapping feedbacks and experiences of his clients over the years, his Kyborg Health Encyclopedia arose: not a theoretical reference work, but the condensed practice of this accompaniment. Around 2001 he withdrew from the counselling practice to devote himself more to spiritual teaching and to his artistic work.

Alke published numerous books, writings and meditation audios, including early on Das Geheimwissen (‘The Secret Knowledge’, 1980) and his extensive autobiographical main work “Mahatma”. He developed his mental-training concept “Mental Basics – Ein Konzept für den Weg zum Erfolg!” (‘Mental Basics – a concept for the path to success!’) in 1991 for the Akademie Montabaur, at which managers of the Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken are trained; it appeared in several editions between 1991 and 2000. In this way his work fed early on into professional further education as well. At the centre is always the question of the conditions under which people grow inwardly and live in balance. His publications join body-related knowledge with an expressly personal, spiritual view of health, consciousness and self-responsibility.
