Tobias O. R. Alke

Tobias O. R. Alke (born 1987) is the managing director of the Kyborg Institute, a sociologist (M.A.) and author. As the son of the institute’s founder D. Harald Alke, he grew up in his spiritual environment and today joins a social-science training with the tradition of the institute — a bridge between academic thinking and lived spirituality.

Academic background

Tobias Alke studied sociology at the Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg and graduated in 2014 with a Master of Arts. His bachelor’s thesis already joined sociological classics (Max Weber, Pierre Bourdieu) with questions of the modern working world; his master’s thesis was devoted to altruism – that is, selflessness, the unselfish helping and giving for others – as an interdisciplinary theme. During his studies he was active in student self-government and worked as a tutor for key and information competencies at the Max Weber Institute.

Spiritual training

In parallel, Tobias Alke went through training with his father as a spiritual seminar leader (Dipl. SSL) for Energytraining, Autogenic Training and psychocybernetics. He therefore knows the methods of the Kyborg Institute not only from the family, but from his own practice and teaching.

Contribution to Kyborg knowledge

From his social-science studies, Tobias Alke brought extensive research into the work of the institute — above all on selflessness and love of one’s neighbour (in science called “altruism”): the question of why and how people help others unselfishly. These insights have flowed into the Kyborg Encyclopedia. He is thus co-author of several knowledge contributions in which tested, source-based insight and the spiritual view of the institute come together.

Digital & technical competence

Alongside social science, Tobias Alke continually develops his skills in the technical field – from software development and IT security (including network/firewall technology) to artificial intelligence (for example Google AI Essentials, 2025). This combination of humanities thinking, lived spirituality and digital technology shapes his approach: he brings the tradition of the Kyborg Institute into a contemporary, digital form – entirely in the spirit of the idea of a “spiritual technician”.

Responsibility in the institute

In 2019 Tobias Alke took over the management of Alke GmbH (Spiritual Art & Magic), in 2022 the leadership of the Kyborg Institute. In this role he is responsible, among other things, for the digital modernisation — from the website and online shop to publications under “Kyborg Publishing” — and leads his father’s work into a new generation without losing sight of its core: the question of how people grow inwardly and live responsibly.

What I stand for

Beyond the professional milestones, it is about an attitude for me: to accompany people in trusting their own judgement again and going their own way — honestly, without pressure and without ideology. I would rather invite people to experience for themselves than convince them; I frighten no one and promise no miracles. What I offer is a clear, reliable framework — everyone walks the path themselves.
