Bovis units

Bovis units are a subjective measure from dowsing (radiesthesia). They describe the height of an energy level at a place or object and are sensed with a single-hand rod or pendulum via the subconscious – not measured with physical instruments. At the Kyborg Institute we understand them as a practical aid and expressly as a personal, worldview-based view, not as a natural-scientific measured value.

How do we measure Bovis units?

Measuring is done with a single-hand rod or a pendulum; a very fine single-hand rod with a wooden handle and fine steel wire has proven itself. The value arises radiaesthetically: the dowser perceives, via their subconscious, an energy pattern that the rod makes visible. From this there follows directly the most important limitation – “whoever does not know these methods arrives at no values or at differing values”. Bovis values are thus strongly dependent on the sensitivity and the daily form of the dowser and are no objective measurements.

Height instead of amount – what the value expresses

A central particularity is rendered by a Horus message:

„Bovis-Einheiten? Sie drückt die Höhe eines Energieniveaus aus, nicht die Menge.” – Horus

A high Bovis value thus stands, in this view, for a high vibration / frequency level, not for a great “amount of energy”. This explains why especially high values are ascribed to holy places and subtle levels.

The Bovis scale

In the dowsing tradition – and according to the Kyborg Institute’s own experiences – the values are ascribed to the following levels (all figures are subjectively sensed):

Values below about 6,000 count, in this tradition, as little conducive. Very high ranges are ascribed to the Horus energy pyramids; at favourable locations, values up to the millions range are subjectively sensed and reported for the large models. All of this is no scientific measured value.

What particularities hold? Factors of influence

Why the same energy pyramid is “measured” very differently at different places depends, in our experience, on several factors:

• Location and earth grid: at crossing points of the Hartmann and Curry grids, markedly higher values are sensed than on neutral ground. The form of the landscape and the rock too shape the form of the field of effect.
• Duration of setting-up: a freshly set-up object shows lower values; over months and years the sensed field “grows”.
• Crystals and material: gemstones in the central axis (e.g. rock crystal, rose quartz, amethyst) change the height and quality of the perceived radiation.
• Biofeedback and the power of thought: the state of consciousness of the using person plays into it – the field is experienced as shapeable.
• Network effects: large models, according to our observations, stimulate smaller ones over great distances to higher values.

Because all these factors – and above all the dowser themselves – work in, Bovis figures are always approximate values of a subjective perception.

Bioangström, RON and other measures

Among dowsers, various measures for subtle energies are in circulation, such as Bioangström or Bovis units; the users are “not in agreement” in their determination. There is no generally recognised conversion between Bioangström and Bovis – both remain subjective scales.

From the channelling work with Horus comes an alternative proposal, the RON (Radial Orgonic Naud), which is meant to overcome the variability: “1 Naud is the unit of measure for the life potential of a yeast cell.” This approach too is a worldview-based positing, not an established physical measure.

Placement

Bovis units are for us a helpful, vivid tool for speaking about subtle energies. But they are not scientifically demonstrated and replace no measurement in the physical sense. Related terms are explained by the lexicon under channelling, energy, chakra and esotericism.
