Vaginismus
In vaginismus, the pelvic-floor and vaginal muscles cramp involuntarily – often already at touch or at the attempt of penetration, sometimes so strongly that intercourse becomes painful or impossible. Important first: this is nothing self-inflicted and well treatable. At the Kyborg Institute we consider the theme additionally, sensitively, on a soul-related level, expressly as a personal, worldview-based view.
Our reading
In our reading, tension and fear are the core – such as the fear of losing something loved, an inner conflict or old, hidden strains. The body “closes up” where the soul cannot quite say yes. What helps is the opposite of pressure: security, trust, patience and relaxation – with the partner too. That is a sensitive suggestion, no attribution of blame.
What does that mean in practice?
- Have it clarified gynaecologically and take up (sex-)therapeutic accompaniment – vaginismus is well treatable.
- Do without pressure; build up security, trust and relaxation.
- Look at hidden fears gently – readily with professional accompaniment.
Note: This article renders a personal, worldview-based view and is not medical advice. It replaces no medical diagnosis or treatment. For health questions please turn to a doctor or pharmacy.
Frequently asked questions
What is vaginismus?
In vaginismus, the pelvic-floor and vaginal muscles cramp involuntarily, often out of tension or fear. It is nothing 'self-inflicted' and well treatable – gynaecologically and (sex-)therapeutically.
How does the Kyborg Institute read vaginismus?
In our reading, tension and fear lie in it – such as the worry of losing something, or an inner conflict. Security, trust and relaxation help. That is a sensitive, personal view, no substitute for professional help.
