Birth and rebirthing
Rebirthing is a therapeutic method in which birth-like states and memories are meant to be awakened through intensive, accelerated breathing. It came into fashion at the end of the 1970s; many people experienced it as freeing. At the Kyborg Institute we additionally classify the theme on a soul-related level – expressly as a personal, worldview-based view.
Experiences and our view
D. Harald Alke worked at times similarly with the “breath of fire” of Energy Training and later with gentle regressions. His observation: if no artificial stress is generated, most people experience their own birth as normal and unproblematic – even with complications. We would therefore like to relieve from a blanket “birth trauma” that was over-emphasised in some therapy fashions.
Out of our spiritual tradition, we understand birth in connection with reincarnation – as the entry into a new life. That is a worldview-based reading, no medical statement.
What does that mean in practice?
- Pregnancy and birth belong in good medical and midwife-led care (see pregnancy, caesarean section).
- Rebirthing or regressions only in experienced, professional accompaniment.
- Do not let yourself be additionally burdened by a blanket “birth trauma”; calm breathing work (see pranayama) can do good in pregnancy.
Note: This article renders a personal, worldview-based view and is not medical advice. It replaces no medical diagnosis or treatment. For health questions please turn to a doctor or midwife.
