The two kidneys filter the blood, form the urine and regulate the water and salt balance. Kidney illnesses are serious and in need of treatment and belong in medical hands. Our reading
The kidneys are a paired organ – and paired organs we connect in our reading with the theme of partnership. It is about the question of whether two people grow together into a unity or chafe against opposites. This need not be the love relationship: family, parents and children or business partners belong in this image too. Whether it is rather the feeling-oriented (left) or the intellect-oriented (right) side that is affected can, in our view, give a hint. Criticism, disappointment and oversensitivity too “go to the kidneys” (a German idiom for what gets to someone deeply).
