Infections
Infections arise when pathogens – bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites – get into the body and multiply. The immune system fends off many of them, often without our noticing. Hygiene, vaccinations and – where necessary – a medical treatment help to avoid infections or to get through them well. At the Kyborg Institute we additionally consider the role of one’s own life force – expressly as a personal, worldview-based view and only as a supplement to medicine.
Factual: immune system, hygiene, antibiotics
A healthy immune system is our most important natural protection – but not the only one. Hygiene (e.g. hand-washing) and vaccinations have strongly pushed back many once-feared infectious illnesses; that is well established.
Antibiotics are effective with bacterial infections and often life-saving. At the same time it holds: they work only against bacteria, not against viruses, and an excessive or wrong use fosters resistances. Therefore, experts recommend a responsible handling – take antibiotics only on medical instruction and as prescribed. That is no argument against antibiotics, but for their clever use.
Our supplementary view: one’s own life force
We are convinced that a good general condition helps the person: rest, movement, good diet and an attentive handling of one’s own energy. According to our understanding, that strengthens resilience. That is a personal view – it supports the immune system at most in general and is no substitute for hygiene, vaccinations or medical treatment.
What does that mean in practice?
- Attend to hygiene and a complete vaccine protection.
- With fever, severe or persistent complaints, have it clarified by a doctor.
- Take prescribed antibiotics as instructed and do not discontinue them on your own initiative.
- Cultivate the general lifestyle as a supplement, not as a substitute.
Note: This article renders a personal, worldview-based view and is not medical advice. It replaces no medical diagnosis or treatment. For health questions please turn to a doctor or pharmacy; do not discontinue prescribed medication on your own initiative.
Frequently asked questions
What causes infections?
Infections are triggered by pathogens – bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites. The immune system fends off many of them. Hygiene, vaccinations and, if needed, a medical treatment help to avoid more severe courses.
Are antibiotics harmful?
Antibiotics are effective with bacterial infections and often vital. Important is a responsible use: only on medical instruction and against bacteria (not against viruses), to prevent resistances. Please take antibiotics you have started to the end as prescribed.
What does the Kyborg Institute mean by 'one's own life force'?
We believe that a good general condition – rest, movement, good diet – helps well-being. That is a personal view and supports the immune system at most in general. It replaces neither hygiene nor vaccinations nor medical treatment.
