Horus Well
The Horus Well is an octagonal art object of four gilded Bagua rings with a rock-crystal sphere at the centre (size 60 × 60 × 60 cm). It is designed according to Feng Shui principles and sees itself as the feminine counterpart to the energy pyramid. Like all objects of the Kyborg Institute, it is an object of art and experience; the effects described here are a personal, worldview-based view – not a medical or physically measured effect (cf. life energy).
Feng Shui and the Bagua
An energy pyramid has eight corners – seen from above, you recognise the Bagua of the I Ching and of Feng Shui, which in this tradition reflects the forces of heaven and earth in a balanced way. The Horus Well takes this up: it consists of four interlocking Bagua rings with a large rock-crystal sphere as its centre.
In our understanding, the energy pyramid and the well carry two poles: the pyramid emphasises (in this interpretation) rather the “masculine”, the well rather the “feminine” aspect. This is a symbolic image from the Feng Shui tradition, not an assertion of fact.
Setup
Anyone who considers a property according to Feng Shui places – following this image – an energy pyramid rather on a “masculine” spot and a well rather at the “feminine” centre. In our experience the two objects complement each other well. Whether one follows this order is left to each person.
Use and our interpretation
In our view, the well “clears” the atmosphere of a place and invites letting go – with a wink, we describe it as the “counterpart” to the pyramid: while the pyramid builds up a calm, sheltered field, the well invites the conscious release of tension. Some people stand – facing north-east, arms raised – inside the well and feel this to be a beneficial pause.
These are personal, worldview-based impressions. We expressly do not claim that the well removes illnesses, “poisonings”, “possessions” or emotional injuries; it does not replace medical or psychological help. Anyone struggling with real burdens will find the appropriate support there.
Why the theme of “letting go” is important to us: over the course of life, tensions and difficult memories accumulate. A place that invites calm and conscious letting go can – as a ritual and experience – do good. That is exactly what the Horus Well is intended for.
