Pranayama: Breathing is life!

“Before you can master the task,
your whole life consciously,
first learn to breathe properly!”

Breathing is of fundamental importance to our lives. Our breathing releases the energy we need to maintain our body. Our breathing creates the connection between the physical level and the purely spiritual level. Breathing is a chemical-physiological process. It releases bound energy. This energy makes it possible to activate and use our physical body. Our life energy is solar energy. Over billions of years, living beings on earth have found a way to assimilate sunlight. Plants use part of the visible light and heat that comes from the sun. They build up carbohydrates with the help of chlorophyll. Humans and most of the animal world can absorb and assimilate plants as food. We also need the warmth of the sun.

We breathe in the oxygen that the plants exhale and we eat the plants. The solar energy stored in their bodies, e.g. glucose, provides us with the energy we need to live. When we stop breathing, the “light of life” goes out. The body’s activities collapse. The body goes limp and dies. The spirit must leave the body. How fitting is the symbolism of the “light of life”! The candle also functions through a combustion process. The wick begins to breathe as soon as it has received the “light impulse” from a flame. Once lit, the candle will consume itself. It provides light as long as fresh air and candle fat are available.

It is no different with our life. As soon as a spiritual impulse grasps a mature sperm cell, our life begins. The spirit of the unborn life grasps a suitable sperm cell and directs it to the egg cell. The egg cell already contains the impulse of life, the Gaia intelligence. The life of Gaia has not been interrupted since the beginning of our time. The spirit that incarnates and the spark of Gaia consciousness unite. You will find a detailed description of these processes in my book “Energy for Millions”. In this book I have described my experiences of what happens when you work very intensively with these pranayama exercises and with Kundalini Yoga for several years.

We take nutrients and oxygen from the environment, begin to breathe, grow, age, consume ourselves and fade away. What remains is the spirit that was there before. Just like the heat and light of the candle, our spirit communicates itself to the environment. We send a signal. We light a light with every new birth we experience.

Together with the air we breathe, we absorb prana. These are free energy particles that reach the earth with the solar wind. Prana is absorbed into the energy body at the root of the nose. We build our astral body from prana. Those who constantly live in dark rooms, factories or underground must either draw the necessary prana from food, or they wither away like a green plant without sunlight. Prana cannot be replaced. Prana is not simply light, it is a specific energetic substance that has existed since the origin of the universe. Part of the prana is consumed in our life processes. It is transformed into apana. We exhale apana along with the used air and the carbon dioxide it contains. Apana is the negative form of positive prana. Apana is polarized prana that lacks dynamic energy.

We can learn to see prana. Although the prana particles come to us on earth from the sun, they are not subject to gravity. When the sun is shining, you should take a look out of the window. It is best to look at the blue sky, but not at the sun. Concentrate on nothing. Direct your gaze into the empty, blue sky. Fix your eyes on an area in front of you, not too far away, as if a bird were flying past at a height of 50 meters. In this relaxed state, you will quickly discover tiny, glistening points of light bouncing around like water fleas. Once you know what is meant, you will be able to see these particles everywhere. Only the concentration density will be different. So prana is everywhere. We are just not used to paying attention to it.

There is almost nothing left in dense smog fog. This is why many people are so exhausted in smog. It’s not just the dirt, it’s also the acute lack of prana. The soul begins to suffer because it no longer receives any nourishment. These little particles of energy bounce up and down. They are not subject to gravity, jump around cheerfully and are everywhere when the sun is shining. This is why we are drawn to the mountains or the sea rather than the jungle. All life forms need prana! Many breathe it in and use it to build up their energy body. Others only get it by feeding on other living beings. The value of food is by no means limited to good matter, such as protein, fat, carbohydrates and minerals. The most important thing is the energy reserves still contained in the substance!

If we live normally and well, then we also have enough sunlight. Even constant exposure to fluorescent lighting weakens our energy body because prana is broken down in rooms with a high concentration of fluorescent light. This is the reason why many people who work under fluorescent tubes go home completely empty in the evening.

Our lungs are so important because they have the largest surface area of all the organs in our body. The active surface of all the alveoli forms an area the size of a soccer pitch! It is our largest organ of contact with the environment.

In contrast, our skin only has a surface area of around 2 square meters. For this reason, we react to negative environmental conditions with various allergies in the respiratory area. Social disturbances often put a strain on the respiratory organs. Of course, there are many other factors, but these findings of an “applied holistic world view” can bring amazing results if you pay attention to them and use them.

Ignorance, stupidity and know-it-all attitudes are prominent human characteristics that make life difficult for us. Earlier generations, other cultures and above all the many “primitive” societies have always felt part of a larger context. They felt God within themselves, the omnipotence of the universe, the great spirit. As we have moved out of the caves and into concrete castles, we have lost touch with a normal world. Our instincts atrophy, food becomes inferior, prana is missing, sensual stimuli such as fresh nature, living beings, fellow creatures, natural events, weather and fresh air are taken away from us.

The connection to natural forces can be improved again if we learn to observe the natural processes of our lives. It is about infusing our normal life activities with awareness! We can learn to breathe consciously. We can observe ourselves more attentively. If we are doing well, we should consciously accept it and be happy about it.

Even a single, very conscious, deep breath can give us new strength. It gives us the vitality and energy we need. Breathing is essential. It is necessary, i.e. it averts distress! Breathing is life!

This article is an excerpt from my book “The Stages of Pranayama – The Secret of Breathing and Concentration!” If you want to learn how to breathe consciously and gain the energy and concentration to make your own life successful and happy, then order this book!
